However, her future wasn't always certain.
Nearly three decades ago, unthinkable tragedy struck. While pregnant with her daughter, her daughter's father lost his life to gun violence, an event she experienced in-person.
After that event, I don't care if it was food, if it was clothing, if it was getting a car, if it was finishing school... at the time, everything seemed impossible.

Dr. Davis drew on her community and faith — and made a plan.
In the aftermath of this event, Dr. Davis started attending Community Connections for Families, a pilot program from Auberle.
She credits the Auberle staff for modelling — and sparking her interest — in community-driven advocacy work.
Auberle staff listened to her goals, helped her build a supportive service plan and family vision, and taught her how to advocate for herself and her children. That moment planted a seed of possibility.
When Auberle came and started working with our family, one of the biggest things that they taught us is to have a voice... what was surprising is how compassionate each of those individuals were.

The advocacy skills Dr. Davis began developing with Auberle now shape every part of her leadership.

The most full-circle moment? DCS now serves Auberle as a consultant on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, ensuring the agency continues to welcome and support individuals forging their own path to success.

Now, Dr. Davis uses her experience to inspire the next generation of community-conscious leaders:
For thirty years, Dr. Davis's pivotal turning point at Auberle has grown into a generational movement.
When you support Auberle, you plant seeds of impact that grow for decades.
